How do I connect AirPods to MacBook Pro & MacBook Air laptops?
Before attempting to connect/pair your AirPods to your MacBook, if you have your AirPods connected to your iPhone, they might have been automatically linked with your Mac. This is possible if your iPhone and Mac’s Handoff feature are signed into the same Apple ID account, which could save you some time.
If your AirPods are connected to your iPhone, follow these steps to connect them to your Mac:

Make sure the AirPods are out of their case
For your AirPods to be connected to your iPhone, they cannot be inside their case.

Click the speaker/headphones icon
On your Mac, go to the menu bar (usually in the top corner) and select the Volume/Sound icon top open the dropdown menu, which looks like a speaker or a set of headphones.

Click AirPods to connect
A list of the output devices will be visible on your Mac. Click to link your AirPods to your Mac when they appear there.
Pairing AirPods to MacBook
If your AirPods don’t appear on the list of output devices, you need to pair them to your MacBook. Here is how you can do it:

Open the charging case
Lift the cover of the charging case while leaving the AirPods inside.

Hold the Setup Button
When the status light starts to flash white, hold down the Setup button on the case’s back.

System Preferences > Bluetooth
Your AirPods are now set to pair. Select System Preferences > Bluetooth by clicking the Apple icon in the menu bar on your MacBook.

Look for your device
You will see your AirPods listed on the BlueTooth list. If they don’t appear, switch the Bluetooth on and off on your Mac.

Why won’t my AirPods pair with my MacBook Air?
There are a couple of fixes you may attempt if you can’t get your AirPods to work with your MacBook Air or Pro:

- If the AirPods are listed in your Bluetooth devices list but won’t pair, click the X button and link the AirPods with the Mac.
