Taking a screenshot on Lenovo Laptop using PrintScreen

Capture screenshots on a Lenovo laptop by pressing the Print Screen key on the keyboard. There’s a dedicated Print Screen key on a Lenovo laptop, but it may be abbreviated ‘PrtSc‘. You can also identify it by a small scissor icon printed on the key, in the top right corner of your keyboard.

The print screen captures the screenshot of the entire screen, but it doesn’t actually save it immediately. It just stores it in your clipboard to paste elsewhere. You have to save manually using programs like Microsoft Word or Paint. But you can also use 3rd party programs like Paint.Net or Photoshop. After pasting the screenshot into these program, you can edit them accordingly.

Using Windows + PrintScreen

Press the Windows + PrintScreen keys on the keyboard to capture and save the screenshots directly.

It is a better option if you are in a rush. It captures the entire screen. The saved screenshot is available in the Screenshots folder under Pictures.

Using Alt + PrintScreen

Press the Alt + PrintScreen keys on the keyboard to capture the screenshot of an active window. You have to save the captured screenshot manually using Microsoft Word or Paint. You can employ 3rd party programs like Paint.Net too.

Using Alt + Windows + PrintScreen

If the Windows key saves the image and the Alt key takes the screenshot of the active window, you may think pressing Windows + Alt + PrintScreen probably saves the active window screenshot. Well, it does something but not what you are expecting.

Pressing the Alt + Windows + PrintScreen launches a popup on the screen that says “Screenshot Saved” and below this message, dictates you to press Windows + G to open Xbox Game Bar.

The screenshot of the active window will be available in the Xbox Game Bar. Click Open File Location. You will see that the file is saved inside the Captures folder under Videos. The Xbox Game Bar has lots of other features, such as screen recording. You can explore them if you want. Press Windows + G again to hide it.

Taking a Screenshot on a Lenovo Laptop Using the Snipping Tool

The Snipping Tool on Windows 10 and Windows 11 is simple. You can use the app or the shortcut to take screenshots.

Click the Start button and search the Snipping Tool.

Launch the app and choose one of the following capture modes.

Free-Form Mode: Use the mouse to select any form from the screen.

Rectangular Mode: Create simple screenshots using the mouse.

Window Mode: Save the screenshot of a window.

Full-Screen Mode: Screenshot of the entire screen.

There’s also a Delay Mode. You can use it to delay capturing a screenshot for up to 10 seconds.

Click the New button and create the screenshot using the mode you have selected. We’ve used the rectangular mode for our example below – showing the area capture.

After completing these steps, the Snipping Tool Editor will open. You can edit the screenshots before sharing them. This includes cropping, drawing, and highlighting.

There’s an alternate way to use the Snipping Tool. Instead of searching the tool, press Windows + Shift + S. After that, the procedure is the same as before. The app also has customization options, such as using PrintScreen instead of the Windows + Shift + S shortcut.
