Best PC build for Starfield

Now when it comes to the best PC build for Starfield, there’s nothing better than a good all AMD PC. It provides great optimization and use of most features of the game. This will allow you to get a powerful gaming machine across the board especially pushing through the AAA games. Starfield has a lot to offer, it does have quite a demanding performance, and having a capable PC is a hard thing that requires quite some good components.

This build should provide you with plenty of years. The CPU and GPU are at the top of the game with a lot of value behind them. Although you can easily swap things out, like the graphics card that can be lowered, along with the memory that can be changed as needed, with the power supply to follow. The chassis is also a good one to look around with as it can come down to personal preference but that’s the joy of building a PC, it’s a rather flexible hobby where you can change things out.

PC build requirements for Starfield

The Starfield system requirements can be rather steep. Although there is some easement to the minimum, the recommendations are a lot higher and tougher to match. They also make the most of the features in the game such as upscaling to ensure you get an even better framerate but these are what is suggested.

Minimum Requirements

  • OS: Windows 10 version 2004 (10.0.19041.0)
  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 2600x, Intel Core i7-6800K
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics: AMD Radeon RX 5700, NVIDIA GeForce 1070 Ti
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Network: Broadband Internet connection
  • Storage: 125 GB available space
  • OS: Windows 10/11 with updates
  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 3600X, Intel i5-10600K
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics: AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Network: Broadband Internet connection
  • Storage: 125 GB available space

Starfield PC build performance

Although we don’t have the exact benchmark for the PC, we have some close options to look at. Gamers Nexus looks at how different GPUs perform in the game and can give you a good idea of what you can expect. As the GPU is the main source of framerate it should give you a close look at what the PC might be able to achieve. With a focus on 4K primarily you can expect a lot considering the high settings used.

Ther we see an average of 74 FPS, with lows down to 34 at 4K. Whilst 1440p does jump up to around 98, and 1080p smashes it with over 100 so it might be more of a CPU bottleneck at that point. Now that gives you a good range of performance considering that it is at the top of the available options and it still gives you a good enjoyment from the game.

The ASUS Prime X670-P is one of the better AM5 motherboards to go for. Bringing plenty of connectivity and performance to the new platform. As it features 12+2 DrMOS power stages with heatsinks it offers a good power delivery for any overclocking you wish to achieve. Then with a Gen 5 storage slot, you get plenty of speed for it as well as from the DDR5 it features. Then the USB C and 2.5GB ethernet on the back allow for fast peripherals and internet connectivity as well.

The best CPU cooler for the 7800X3D is the ASUS ROG Ryujin II 240, as you’re going to want the best cooler for the job. The AIO allows you to do that, as the cooler you can keep the CPU the better performance you can get out of it. This is especially necessary for the X3D chips which run hot and have a lot more safety to ensure its capabilities. The ROG Ryujin grants you that ability with the liquid cooling for the 240mm radiator it uses.

Now for the memory, DDR5 is what you’ll need for the machine. The G.Skill Trident Z RGB 32GB running 6600MHz is the option to go for. With such capacity and speed, you get to enjoy multi-tasking capabilities and fast running that will help with framerates and all.
